First Annual Fundraiser

The Florida Health Justice Project held its First Annual Fundraiser at Francesca Violich and Glenn Terry’s tropical paradise garden.   Our incredibly generous hosts and volunteers created a uniquely Coconut Grove fundraiser-- funky & fun, with delicious food, lively conversation, and a silent auction featuring offbeat art treasures and quirky adventures.

It was inspiring to welcome nearly 100 folks who share our commitment to health care as a human right.  Without going too “into the weeds” (since it was a party and health care is complicated), we briefly explained why it’s critical to expand Medicaid in Florida and to protect immigrant health care access—2 of the major issues we’re working on.

And we shared how collaborating with other advocates and using all the tools in the advocacy “toolkit” makes us effective--
  • from creating guides, trainings and briefs on complex health care programs and policies
  • to outreach and education
  • to litigation if/when necessary

We raised over $10,000—every dollar of which goes toward supporting our advocacy efforts.  There is no excess overhead in our small yet mighty startup!
