FLORIDA CONNECTING KIDS TO COVERAGE is a statewide outreach and enrollment initiative led by University of South Florida’s Florida Covering Kids & Families. As part of the Florida Connecting Kids to Coverage effort, Florida Health Justice Project helps eligible families, children, and pregnant women enroll in Florida KidCare’s health coverage programs.
Florida KidCare provides health coverage to kids, from birth through the end of their 18th year. There is no cost to apply, and enrollment is year-round. Children may be eligible for one of four programs: Medicaid, MediKids, Florida Healthy Kids, or the Children’s Medical Services Health Plan.
Florida KidCare includes free, subsidized and full-pay options based on family income and household size. Most families pay nothing at all, and many pay as little as $15 or $20 per month for all children in the household. Families who do not qualify for free or subsidized coverage may purchase a competitively priced full-pay plan.
