The Florida Maternal and Infant Health Crisis, a report by Miami Law’s Human Rights Clinic and the Florida Health Justice Project.
This report provides a human-rights analysis of Florida’s maternal and infant health crisis and human-rights based recommendations to improve maternal and infant health. It focuses on three critical solutions: 1) Medicaid Expansion, 2) Florida’s Family Planning Waiver Program, and 3) Midwives and Doulas. The report advocates for an evidence-based, holistic, and intersectional approach that considers how race, gender, and other identities converge, leading to disparate outcomes for marginalized or underserved individuals. We hope that this report will serve as a useful reference point for advocates and policymakers concerned about Florida’s maternal and infant health.
